In 1991, Till Gombert was born in Freiburg (Germany) to a family of photographers. When he was 13 years old, he founded the filmmakers collective "Blackwood-Films“, which is still a productive film platform for schoolchildren and students today.
Since 2014 he has been studying at the State University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe with a major in Media Art / Film (Prof. Răzvan Rădulescu, Prof. Andrei Ujica) and is currently working on his first feature film. His short films have been selected in various festivals, i.a. Beijing Int. Short Film Festival, Szczecin European Film Festival and Filmschau BW.
In October 2020, he will continue his studies at renowned Academy of Media Arts Cologne.

Artificial light always fascinated me. It brakes the natural daily routine of sunrise & sunset and lets us structure our habits as we want. But doesn’t it just ties us to a new rhythm?
Mr. Schöpken (allegory for Schöpfung, engl. creation) works very late and rests during day. He lives detached from the world. Caught in endless loops of repetition, he only survives with his stoic perspective. Than a change occurs: A light does not work the way it should be. The incident repeats itself and becomes a sign to Mr. Schöpken. He goes through a very, very silent journey to become a more self aware subject: In the end, Herr Schöpken sees the only solution in manipulating the light that once irritated him.
