Heroe - our life's journey
In 1949, Joseph Campbell created the Hero's Journey concept.
By studying tales and legends from around the world, he synthesizes all these stories told since the dawn of time in a single frame. This is the monomyth theory, all heroes go through the same stages on their journey.
In the 90s, this framework was taken up by the film industry and all
scenarios of the greatest films then follow an identical sequence. Georges Lucas, the first, recognized that the success of Star Wars was inseparable from this writing model which follows the stages of the Hero's journey.
Today, Denis Jaccard, a Swiss therapist specializing in the subject, reveals how the concept of the Hero's journey does not only apply to cinema or to the myths and legends of the past, but is found in each of us over the course of his existence. Becoming aware of this makes it possible to apprehend the trials differently and to perceive
the new meaning one can or wants to give to one's life.
It is through very different life paths that 4 Alsatian witnesses reveal their hero's journey to us. Their stories gradually bring out an analogy with the stages described by Campbell or present in the films previously mentioned.
If we all follow this same path, if this story is universal, it is logical that it challenges each of us on the meaning of his life and the past and future stages.
In this particular period that pushes us to introspection, the question that we should all ask ourselves is surely:
"And me, where am I in my Hero's journey?"
