Director Statement

Creating "Hero" was a deeply personal journey for me. The film explores themes of resilience, identity, masculinity, survival, and guilt. Growing up, I felt isolated and without guidance, leading to addiction and other vices that left me feeling lost.

"Hero" addresses men's mental health, an issue often overlooked due to societal expectations for men to be strong and unemotional. This pressure leads to bottled-up emotions and negative coping behaviors like addiction. The suicide rate for males is significantly higher than females, underscoring the urgency of addressing this issue.

My film aims to break the stigma around men seeking help, especially regarding early sexual abuse. In many cultures, sex is taboo, leading to misunderstandings about intimacy and contributing to issues like sex addiction. It's crucial for our community to recognize the profound impact of these struggles.

I crafted "Hero" to be authentic and emotionally resonant, using a dramatic and introspective style to immerse the audience in the protagonist's inner world. Balancing raw emotion with subtle storytelling, my hope is that "Hero" encourages viewers to reflect on their own journeys and find strength in their stories.
