Here comes the bear

After the unexpected death of his father, Walter's world is turned upside down. He meets a half-sister, Magnolia; he moves in with his aunt in a studio apartment and begins to suffer a narcolepsy. From certain apparently disconnected situations, Walter finds a connection that leads him to consider that his father faked his own death in order to evade the daily grind and go to live with his other family, although he maintains contact with him through his half-sister. Director Biography - Diego Martín Lucero

Es Licenciado en Comunicación Social, especializado en Realización y Producción Audiovisual (UNC). Completa su formación realizando diversos seminarios de creatividad publicitaria y fotoperiodismo, fotografía social documental; como así también de guión y crítica cinematográfica; talleres de documental found-footage, de vanguardias artísticas y de post-producción audiovisual. Su relación con el teatro se remonta al 2007 cuando gana una beca de la Agencia Córdoba Cultura con el proyecto “El teatro busca a la comunidad”. Desde ese entonces trabaja activamente con las artes escénicas desde “Art Vandelay Producciones” y en paralelo se desempeña como docente de Nivel Medio dictando materias en formato taller vinculadas a la realización de ensayos fotográficos, cortometrajes ficcionales y documentales. Entre sus estudios de posgrado se destacan cursos de Administración y Gestión Cultural (UNC) y una diplomatura en Educación, Imágenes y Medios (FLACSO). En el ámbito de la realización se desempeña en roles diversos de producciones independientes tales como asistencia de producción, sonido directo, cámara y montaje. Hoy se encuentra presentando su primer proyecto largometraje de ficción como guionista y director y en plena postproducción de un documental sobre una obra de teatro físico.

In the field of filmmaking, she works in various roles in independent productions such as production assistance, direct sound, camera and editing. He is currently presenting his first fiction feature film project as scriptwriter and director and is in the process of post-production of a documentary about a physical theater play.

La principal motivación que me lleva a escribir esta historia está marcada por aquellas zonas difusas que se dan entre lo humorístico y lo trágico en la vida misma. El arte como expresión estética nos ayuda a extrañar estas situaciones: cuando las razones por las que se ríe son las mismas por las que se llora, se develan aquellos escondites de la compleja mente humana. Esta es la historia de un hombre de unos treinta y pico de años que aparentemente todo le da lo mismo y nada le llega profundamente. Cuando su padre muere, su mundo ordinario se desmorona, lo que demuestra que en realidad le sucede todo lo contrario. La tragedia le afecta a tal punto que deja de sentir la conexión con su entorno, confundiendo lo onírico con lo real/vivido. La teoría que más le hace eco es la de que fue abandonado adrede. Su orgullo se ve resentido, se obsesiona con la idea del aparentar como forma de evasión. En esta película uno de los principales enigmas de la humanidad, como lo es la muerte, choca con las justificaciones e intentos de racionalización presentes en la mente de su protagonista. Travesía que, en estos términos, está condenada al fracaso. Sin embargo nuestro héroe, consciente de ello, está dispuesto a todo (hasta de fingir su propia muerte) para llegar a comprobar su hipótesis. Es precisamente esta fuerza interior que muchas veces escapa a toda sensatez, la que me orientó en la concepción de esta película y sus personajes.

The main motivation that leads me to write this story is marked by those blurred zones that occur between the humorous and the tragic in life itself. Art as an aesthetic expression helps us to miss these situations: when the reasons for laughing are the same reasons for crying, those hiding places of the complex human mind are revealed. This is the story of a man in his thirties who apparently doesn't care about anything and nothing touches him deeply. When his father dies, his ordinary world crumbles, which shows that in reality the opposite is true. The tragedy affects him to such an extent that he ceases to feel a connection with his surroundings, confusing the dreamlike with the real/lived. The theory that most resonates with him is that he was abandoned on purpose. His pride is resented, he becomes obsessed with the idea of pretending as a form of escapism. In this film one of the main enigmas of humanity, such as death, clashes with the justifications and attempts at rationalization present in the mind of its protagonist. A journey that, in these terms, is doomed to failure. However, our hero, aware of this, is willing to do anything (even to fingering his own death) to reach the point of proving his hypothesis. It is precisely this inner strength, which often escapes all reasonableness, that guided me in the conception of this film and its characters.
