Hedera-Dance as an instrument for rediscovering the Lucanian heritage
The idea behind the project is to use dance as a tool for exploration, investigation and rediscovery of the Lucanian natural and architectural heritage. Like the leaves of an ivy, the dancers of the company evolved in and around some landmarks of the region, whether they are the alleys of a historic town, an old castle or the ruins of an ancient Greek temple.
Their perception and interpretation of the places are transmitted to the public both through an improvised dance performance and through other artistic forms less common for a dancer: prose, poetry, drawing, etc.
Everything is made available to the public in a series of short films. The locations were chosen for their symbolic strength, for their ability to represent the richness of Basilicata and for their diversity.
Furthermore, the project aims to enhance the personal and professional path and growth of Lucanian dancers, born and trained in Basilicata and today active on the Italian and international scene. The interpreters will have indeed to use their artistic maturity to rediscover and tell their land but also their history and ultimately themselves.

Loredana Calabrese (1976)
Choreographer and Artistic Director of the Ballet Lucano. In 2003 she founded the cultural association BALLETTO LUCANO, which immediately became a place of artistic and cultural growth for many young Lucanians and not only. Artistic Director of important events, including Pollino Danza Festival , ArgoDanza, World Dance Championships, in 2006 she founded the Compagnia del Balletto Lucano. Cultural exchange and creative dialogue are the basis of her artistic thinking, for this reason, in her projects she constantly confronts important artistic figures, both nationally and internationally, creating solid collaborations. Her choreographic works are distinguished by the uniqueness of the creative and narrative process that leads together with her dancers giving life to real danced stories, respecting the natural spaces that the territory offers, without invading the location, looking for a present dialogue that becomes the cradle where to welcome man-nature.
