Hector Ivan Garcia is a Chicago-native, multifaceted artist with works ranging from television to books, from the auditory arts to the visual arts, and now to the BIG SCREEN.
After receiving his B.A. in Film from Columbia College in '98, he became the vocalist for the independent Latin Alternative rock band, [.DESCARGA.], putting a literal voice to his 1st generation Mexican-American experiences on the streets of Chicago.
Putting his knowledge and degree to use, he partnered up to become video content producer for the independent website www.enchufate.com. Covering the happenings of a burgeoning Latin Alternative scene in Chicago; interviewing national and international touring acts of the genre.
Setting his sites on television, he embarked on directing and co-producing the cable television show E>N>E Chicago Rocks (the weekly series.)
Merging his interest in geometric shapes and his love of classic horror creatures, he dipped into the field of comic-creating by self-publishing “The Polygoons, the Shape-shifting Horror Heroes: Activity Book.”
His most recent artistic endeavors include illustrating a children's book, “My Loving World,” a book about inclusion from a child's perspective.
Hector Ivan Garcia's documentary directorial debut, “Hecho en Chicago” a documentary about the life of Eduardo Calvillo / DJ Resistol 5000 was released in 2019.
