Director Biography - Satabdi Baruwa

Satabdi is from Jorhat, Assam. In Jorhat the biggest festival that is celebrated is Bihu. There are 3 types; Bohag, Magh, and Kati Bihu. During Bihu, everyone goes out and buys new clothes, people go to their relatives' houses, and gifts are exchanged. Kids will go to neighbors' houses and perform dances for them, and in return, the neighbors will give the kids gifts. In Satabdi’s home, a traditional snack called Pitha is made. Aside from the Bihu festivals, the state of Assam is also famous for its tea gardens and the one-horned rhino. Satabdi is very fascinated by documentary films, prompting her to join the Green Hub fellowship. Along with her fascination for documentaries, she also wanted to grow in confidence and work with like-minded people. During her time at Green Hub, she has become very interested in wildlife, so she wants to make wildlife documentaries in the future. In her free time, Satabdi likes traveling, listening to various genres of music, painting, and DIYing things.
