Heart for Central Alabama: CareNet of Chilton County

This piece was created to showcase the services and mission of the local Central Alabama non-profit, CareNet of Chilton County, Inc. The purpose of the video's premiere was to first be shown live at their Fall kickoff gala then published to Facebook and YouTube for Center promotion. The video piece was to be evergreen and unbranded to the year to ensure multi-year use and effectively tell the story of the services, mission, and heart of CareNet and their staff. Afterwards, due to the editing style of the piece, the interviews were weaved both together and within sub-sections that were meant to be able to be played both collectively as the long version (10 min TRT) and mini-section short versions (2-3 minutes each roughly). The premiere was found to be a large success with CareNet of Chilton County seeing a 30% increase in visits to the Center by local donors, interested volunteers, and community members wanting more information. Production for the piece began at the end of June 2023 then ran until the week of July 12, 2023. The final week included two full on-site production days for interviews and Center B-footage. Interviews were then listened to and weaved together to tell a collective story about the mission and services of CareNet of Chilton County, Inc.

Director Statement

This piece was originally intended to be a short-form social content feature that quickly grew as the deeper story behind the work of CareNet Chilton County was revealed through interviews with clients and community members. My hope is that viewers see not only the intentionality included in the production work, but the greater heart for the state of Alabama that jumps from the screen. Much film work is still to be done here in Alabama and my hope is that this piece invites other storytellers to join us here in the South to tell stories hidden in our sometimes discounted states.
