Director Biography - Joe Mackedanz

My name is Joe Mackedanz and I am a filmmaker from Minnesota. Using my left hand as a state map, I would point to the middle of my palm and say, “from a town called Monticello, which is right around here.” Classic midwest hand maps.

After getting a film studies degree from the university that was 25 miles up the road from my hometown, I decided to move a bit further away for my masters. I packed up and drove out to Orange County, California where Chapman University provided a tremendous graduate education in film directing.

Following graduation, I moved up to Los Angeles. I've have continued to make films as much as I can while working a day job of assisting various commercial directors with treatments and pitches.
