Hawar - My Journey to Genocide
Hawar - My Journey to Genocide (2017 Updated Release in English):
HÁWAR recounts the journey of journalist, Düzen Tekkal, and her father Seyhmus who travel back to their roots in northern Iraq where Düzen - who leads a full and happy life with her family in Germany – visits the origin of her Yazidi faith for the first time in her life. While there, father and daughter become witnesses to the direct tragic aftermath of the massacres and unbelievable atrocities committed by the Islamic State, who ultimately launched a genocide campaign against the Yazidi people. Overnight, thousands of people were killed and kidnapped for use as child soldiers and/or sex slaves, and thousand more became IDPs, refugees, and orphans. To this day, the Yazidi people living in IDP and refugee camps cannot return to their homeland for security reasons and many women and children have sought refuge in Germany within the special quotas program (Sonderkontingente Nordirak).
