Face Your Fears
At an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere, Reese shows up having heard rumors of paranormal activity. They had heard rumors elsewhere before, but every time, it was nothing more than rumors—broken radiators, squeaky floorboards, or just misinformation. Once again, they venture in, unsure if it will be just another hoax or if this could be the day that they find what they have been looking for. After Reese cautiously approaches the house and explores for a moment, the ghost appears with a bellowing howl and scares them off, overwhelming with its haunting presence. After taking a moment to calm down, Reese realizes that this is exactly what they came here for: to learn about ghosts. They dive back into the house, determined to discover who this ghost really is.

My name is Nathan Coffman, and I am a recent graduate from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in Animation (2022). My passion for animation started with making flipbooks as a kid, and ever since then I've been pushing myself to learn new methods and improve my animation. Influenced by both classic and modern Nickelodeon cartoons, online animators, and other sources, my goal is to create smooth animations with exaggerated motions for comedic effect.
Face Your Fears came about from my desire to challenge myself with an unfamiliar tone of horror while still injecting enough comic relief and simplistic characters to fit a younger demographic. I chose a dialogue driven story to demonstrate my lip syncing skills as well as to push myself by animating multiple characters. I ultimately settled on a story about facing fears and making friends for a more heartwarming finish for the kids.
