Stephanie McBain is a writer and director originally from Wisconsin who resides in Los Angeles. She was nominated for Best Director at GIFF for her short film "Embedded" and have since written and directed two feature films. "Roads Trees and Honey Bees" (2019) and "A Kiss on Candy Cane Lane." (2019) She is an actors director who enjoys every minute of bringing a story from script to screen. She is very excited to be a part of Hashtag Blessed.
Hashtag Blessed is everything we love about traditional Christmas movies and more. My excitement level escalated after reading this script and I knew I wanted to direct it. It’s a holiday story with a lot of depth that touches on some heavy topics like mental health in our youth. Even with mental health being a huge presence in our society it’s still not the easiest thing to discuss. This film was an opportunity to create a much-needed dialogue within a family. Knowing that this movie had a purpose that could go beyond the entertainment aspect helped us all push through a tight shooting schedule and some very cold days.
Our producer Martina Webster and Dalea Faulkner producer/writer use the phrase “Movies with Meaning,” and that’s exactly what we accomplished with this film. What we experienced on set and what you see on the screen is pure heart. I was very proud to be able to help bring this story to life. The holidays are magical and so are making movies, especially this one.
Producer's Statement:
I love Christmas Movies, but am convinced it is time to have some that doe not fit the cookie cutter mold. We have a series of 10 books and Christmas Films planned for the future that follow our "Movies with Meaning" - but don't worry, they will still have a lot of Christmas Magic and love! I am also proud to team up with my daughter Dalea Faulkner, the writer of these magical stories - Martina Webster
