Happy Birthday: The Animation is a poetry animatic based around the hardships of 2020. The narrator tells the story of two characters, Edith and Cherise, whom are faced with grave circumstances that impact their daily lives and loved ones.
The animation written, directed, and illustrated by Shanice Morgan, with animation by JaDazia Stanifer, is a dedication to the underlying issues plaguing the United States alongside glittering rays of hope for a brighter future.

Shanice Morgan is a poet, writer, mental health advocate, entrepreneur, and all-around creative from Norfolk, Virginia. Alongside following her passion for verse, she's working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing and English. Most recently, Morgan wrote, produced, illustrated, and directed "Happy Birthday," a poetic animatic; focused on the covid-19 pandemic, child abuse, and police brutality. Her poem, "Worthless, Worth Less, or Dangerous," unpacks the past struggles of her life while drawing a more vigilant eye to black trauma is featured on Black Quota; an album of poetry and music telling experiences of black and mixed artist oppression. "A Walk Through," her first publication, is spotlighted in the Virginian Pilot, adjacent to an article about her life.
