Haohai Zhang (born in 2000) is a Chinese screenwriter, director, and editor. He also often works as a photographer and gaffer as well, his short films often focus on a critical perspective.
He studied software engineering during his undergraduate studies, but his passion for filmmaking led him to change his career path. After completing his undergraduate degree(2022), he embarked on many new life experiences. He pursued a major in Film and Screen Arts at the University of Sydney during his postgraduate studies.
In 2022, he acted as director assistant on the feature documentary My Great-Grandfather and worked as an editing assistant on the Beijing Film Academy graduation project All or Nothing. He also began an internship at Yantai Television Station in 2023.
In 2022, he made a satirical short film about idealism titled An Irresistible Gift, which received nomination and awards at film festivals such as the Golden Short Film Festival and Boden International Film Festival. During his studies at the University of Sydney, he directed and shot the satirical short film The Last 30 Minutes of Life, which critiques the elite class, and also directed another satirical short film, The Tie.
