Hannah Richardson is a writer, artist, and small business owner, currently based in Cobourg, Ontario. Hannah grew up in a Ukrainian-Canadian household with a rich history of storytelling through spoken word and the visuals arts. This setting fostered a love of history, which led her to enrol at the University of Ottawa, where she completed her undergraduate in the Honours Specialization in History program. Her research focused on British, American, and Ukrainian history, through both an artistic and sports lens. Notable projects include ‘We the Original North: Toronto’s First Professional Basketball Team’, a website published in 2019 chronicling the short history of the 1946-1947 American Basketball League Toronto Huskies; as well as, ‘An Embroidered History: The Ukrainian-Canadian Identity’, an online archive published in 2019 looking at the Ukrainian-Canadian identity through textiles. Currently she is enrolled at George Brown College in the ‘Scriptwriting and Narrative Design’ program. Works in progress include ‘Uppercut’, a feature-film inspired by her formal essay ‘Eighteenth Century Pugilism: The Commercialization of an Illegal Sport in Britain’.
