Hannah Carman is an actress, singer, writer and producer based in Vancouver and originally from Sydney, Australia. She's had roles in a variety of projects including a leading role in the Rockwell Motion Pictures film Queens of the Desert (2024), starring alongside American actress Sonia Rockwell. The project is now set to become a television series in 2025. She's also starred in the web series Soul Stories (2023) and a variety of award-winning short films such as Young One Studio's short film Ex Affliction (2022), which won Best Short Film at Sydney Women's International Film Festival in 2023.
As a musician and singer, she's been a vocalist for the Australian Girls Choir and was vocally trained for 4 years by professional operatic singer and vocal coach Michaele Archer. In 2021, she was selected as a Top 20 finalist for the international Carmen Duncan Scholarship and was a youth ambassador for Sydney's Griffin Theatre Company. In 2022, she studied at the American Arts Film and Television Academy in their Actors Conservatory full-time program in Los Angeles. While training in LA, she co-produced (alongside US production company Diversity Pictures), wrote, sung and starred in the musical short film The Five Stages. The short film premiered in LA at the 2022 AAFTA Film Festival, where the film was nominated for Best Ensemble Cast and Hannah was nominated for multiple awards including Best Female Actress and Best Producer. The Five Stages embarked on a festival run in 2023, becoming an official selection at the Dreamachine International Film Festival in LA (winning an award for Best Concept), the Experimental, Dance & Music Film Festival in Toronto (winning an award for Best Performances) and the Athens International Monthly Art Film Festival (winning an award for Best Art Film).
At the end of 2023, she co-produced, co-wrote and starred in another musical short film with Diversity Pictures, The Final Curtain Call. She wrote 3 original songs for the film, which have raised awareness on the devastating impact that human trafficking has on women and children globally. Hannah became a professional industry member of Women in Film & Television Australia (WIFT) in 2023, a group committed to improving the position and representation of Australian women in the film and television industry. In February 2024, she began a 3-month mentorship program in Los Angeles with Diversity Pictures, where she worked alongside industry professionals such as Nick Cassavettes, director of The Notebook (2004).
Now based in Vancouver, she has several other projects in development, including a Canadian cult-horror film Blink and a musical feature film that she's optioning with Australian actress, producer and writer Jessica Orcsik.
