Hanhai Studio Screenplay Pitch Day is one of Hanhai’s featured private events every month. We welcome any experienced screenwriters to pitch their projects and get insider tips from award-winning professionals.
Join the Hanhai Studio Screenplay Pitch Day, develop an atmospheric and entertaining piece, meet with potential investors, and gain the opportunity to make your projects happen.
This is a great chance to show your talent!

-How Does it Work?
As a candidate, you will have 10 minutes to pitch your idea and 15 minutes face to face time with the judges who could offer insights into your project. We will select the best film treatment into our next session, and the winner will have the opportunity to book private meetings with our Hanhai Studio executives for further discussion.

Hollywood insiders and professionals will join us, as well as hungry producers looking for exciting projects. Judges for this time are two of our honorary mentors:

*Maggie Soboil:
Through 25 years of experience as an actress, director and producer, Maggie Soboil has developed 3D SCREENWRITING – an innovative program that gives writers the tools to create riveting, three-dimensional characters. She spent many years as head of development for a Los Angeles-based cutting edge film company, developing projects with numerous screenwriters including Armistead Maupin, Djordge Milicevic and Murray Schisgal.
Born in South Africa, Maggie Soboil became that country’s leading female satirist. As an actress, she won an Obie Award in New York for her performance in “Poppie Nongena”, and starred in her own TV special for the BBC. She has directed theatre in New York and Los Angeles, and her first feature “Myron’s Movie” has played numerous festivals in the USA, and garnered a best narrative feature award.
As a producer, she runs her own production company in Los Angeles. She just directed “Missing you” ” which premiered at the Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films, and won the Audience Award at the Short Films/Long Night Festival in LA.
In addition, Maggie is the head of DreamAgo USA (, an international organization that brings together film professionals of all nationalities: screenwriters, producers, directors and distributors.

*Frederick Bailey :
Frederick Bailey made his debut as a feature director with SHOGUN COP (Bushido Pictures), a fantasy/action-adventure with a sword-wielding superhero, which made its world premiere at the Tokyo International Fantastic Film Festival.
Bailey wrote QUICK, the highly successful action/thriller for Academy/Promark starring Jeff Fahey and Tia Carrere, which world-premiered on HBO. He co-wrote TERMINAL JUSTICE, a science-fiction/thriller for Spectacor/Promark starring Lorenzo Lamas, Peter Coyote and Chris Sarandon, premiering on HBO. He collaborated on GOODBYE AMERICA for Quantum Entertainment, starring James Brolin, Michael York and Rae Dawn Chong. Halo Pictures produced a western he wrote, CHEYENNE, starring Bo Svenson and M.C. Hammer. His most recent credits are as co-screenplay on DEEP GOLD and GIRL WITH NO NUMBER for Bigfoot Entertainment, and co-screenplay on ANGEL CAMOUFLAGED, shot in South Carolina and starring James Brolin and Carlos Bernard.
He’s directed over 100 stageplays in New York City and in various regional, repertory and stock theatres, including the world premiere of Beth Henley’s SISTERS OF THE WINTER MADRIGAL. He’s a prize-winning playwright, author of such stage pieces as THE BRIDGEHEAD, GRINGO PLANET, NO SCRATCH, RIO PORK, LONESOME CANYON, and WALKIE TALKI.

Hanhai Studio Best Screenplay

We will select the best screenplay project into our next session, and the winner will have the opportunity to book private meetings with our Hanhai Studio executives for further discussion. We will handover the best screenplay to our investors during Beijing International Film Festival this April for further development.
