Hands of the Earth

Surrounded by the romantic mountainous landcapes of Paradela do Rio, a small village situated in the portuguese region of Gerês, "Hands of the Earth" is a cinematic journey that aims to dive in the life and work of the great ceramist José Teixeira through one of his many creations, a collection of twelve pieces called "History of Life". Packed with a singular and simple beauty and massively deep meaning, these tiny sculptures have the immense power of captivating and inspiring everyone who dedicates a moment to appreciate and humbly sip the precious knowlege they offer. This documentary- with few words, just like the artist who inspired it- illustrates some the journey of this great, and unfortunately already deceased, artisan from his humble origins to the global reach of his unique art, whose legacy echoes over mountains and seas through José Teixeira's crativity and passion, that remais long-lived in his community all in al the others his work was powerful enough to touch.
