Halo Halo Hari Kari (lighter side of darkness) Shot In Austin 2020. WORLD PREMIERE! TRT: 9 mins 17 secs

Based On True Stories:
"Halo Halo Hari Kari" WORLD PREMIERE! Present Day Austin (Color) w/Flashbacks (B/W)! Shot/Edited in Austin (2020). A Catholic Teen does his DNA, finds out he's Jewish. Oh My?! He then gets schooled by 2 Holocaust Survivors (a brother & sister). This is a poignant film with light humor! Hope y'all enjoy it!

The film's intention; to focus on Immigration (then & now), and that there's 'No Place For Hate' (rising antisemitism, racism... F that!)/ On the lighter side in the film; the modern use of Alternative Natural Meds (MMJ), can be. well, very nice!!! My real mother's character, while baking Strudel, say's "it's all in the butter"! (that line came from a cancer survivor, who loves to bake & share banana nut bread, infused, really amazing!). My mom's character just can't remember where she left the butter! Hope y'all enjoy this Austin baked story! TY! Love & Peace, SB

Halo Halo Hari Kari (1939 from Berlin to Manila. From the frying pan into the fire; the lighter side of darkness). Shot in Austin 2020.

The Story:

High stakes poker, with a huge human kitty; 'saving more Jews than Schindler' (not to steal Oscar's thunder). This is a love letter of gratitude in the form of a short film (1939 Manila High Stakes Poker Game; the lighter side to darkness; until The Rising Sun attacked (Dec 8th 1941); leading to the exile of a president (Manuel Luis Quezon), and all allied forces, except those that perished, leading to The Bataan Death March...

The Poker Game was with 5 WW-II heroes; President Manuel Luis Quezon, Col Dwight D Eisenhower, Gen MacArthur, McNutt, and The Frieder Brother's, who owned a '2 for a nickel' cigar factory, employing local citizen's, and Jewish Refugees). This story is told in Flashbacks, and present day Austin Texas. The Protagonist, a concentration camp survivor (now a substitute teacher in his 80's, helping troubled teens & new American Immigrants...). He was pulled from Sachsenhsusen Concentration Camp (with his family), just before the doors shut in 1939. A Political Prison, became a full on Death Concentration Camp. These fortunate 'Chosen People' (1300+ Jewish People), are rescued by 'The Righteous People' (not to be confused with The Righteous Brothers); The righteous are Non-Jews who rescued Jews. This story is about 5 Poker Playing War heroes in Manila. This is another one of those 'Amazing Unbelievable Truths'! There are several untold stories that stem from this courageous card game, that need to be told!

My goal is to unveil more of these truths. The Flashbacks are B/W, the Present Day Story is in Color. It is a story between a troubled teen, and a substitute teacher, our protagonist (Hari Kari, short for Harold Karinfeld). This non-partisan story, shows how different people can come together, and save the world. It to shows us how history can & does repeat itself. We can stop the cycle of hate...

*I'm an American-Jewish Filmmaker (actually a Jew-Bu; Jewish Buddhist), originally from Austin. I feel the need to share this story, and others like it, to fight hate, specifically antisemitism/racism, bullying... & to thank 'The Righteous' for all they do, to help 'The Less Fortunate' & 'our newest immigrants', past, present & future.

The main setting is Austin, sharing the weirdness, while addressing issues, candy coating the pill, to break the cycle of 'American Youth to Euthanasia' (suicide...). We must make a difference now!!! TY!!!
