Hallucinations by the seaside
The film is inspired by a poem of the same name by outsider Brazilian poet Augusto dos Anjos. An entity moves around an atypical wet and gloomy afternoon of Rio de Janeiro. This way, chaos is created in the global south, from a Hannya Japanese metallic mask which represents a jealous demon which turns into a horrific creature. Angry winds carry out the catharsis of movement causing the eternal horror of sea convulsions. An independent, experimental production with no budget realised from the dance by Alan Athayde, with photography by Suriel and original soundtrack by Bartira.

Experimental filmmaker, visual artist, inhabitant of Mangueira in Rio and undergraduate in the course of Cinema from the Faculty Helio Alonso(FACHA). He’s a researcher in the study group Eduardo Coutinho, the cinema of meeting points. He developed the project “Tensioning the concepts of documentary” from the work of Eduardo Coutinho. He’s been striving in his practice to think about the body, movement and the city through archival material be them photographs or videos. At the same time, he explores precariousness of resources as aesthetic strength through the use of obsolete film cameras, webcams, mobile phones and other devices. Apart from audiovisual, he develops works which combine painting, drawing with collage of everyday waste such as packaging, paper receipts and so forth. This includes interventions in printed photography or x-ray scans, establishing a conversation with his investigations about the body and archiving.
