Director Statement

Two years ago I went back to school to complete and receive my BFA in Documentary Filmmaking. My experience living with Sickle Cell disease was the main reason for my graduation delay. SCD is a terrible and debilitating disease that can rob you of time, a lot of which can be spent in and out of hospitals or at home dealing with serious pain and fatigue.

My goal is and has always been to share and advocate for awareness around SCD and I knew my final project to graduate was an opportunity to do that. I reached out to a dear friend of mine and asked her to share her story, as one of the many lives impacted by SCD. To my surprise, the film was well received by the few I shared it with and also won the Best Director award among my graduating class.

I’m so proud of this accomplishment.

Thank You
