Director Statement

As a filmmaker, I have always been drawn to stories that explore the intersection of personal experience and universal truths. My recent documentary, set against the awe-inspiring backdrop of Leh Ladakh, is no exception. This film is more than a travelogue—it’s a reflection on time, memory, and how places shape us in ways we don’t always expect.

Leh Ladakh has held a special place in my heart since I first visited over a decade ago. Returning after ten years, with my wife and daughter experiencing it for the first time, I wanted to capture not only the natural beauty of the region but the deeply personal journey we each embarked on. While she discovers Leh Ladakh through fresh eyes, I revisit it through a lens of nostalgia, change, and introspection. Together, our contrasting yet connected experiences create a dialogue between the past and present, new and familiar.

Technologically, this project was an exciting challenge. Shot entirely on the iPhone 15 Pro, I wanted to prove that meaningful, cinematic storytelling doesn’t require big-budget equipment. The phone’s advanced capabilities allowed me to remain nimble and spontaneous, capturing intimate moments as they unfolded in real time. The stereo sound design, created by Vinay Mojes, enriches the sensory experience, making the vast landscapes and quiet moments feel alive and immersive.

Ultimately, this film is a personal narrative, but one that I believe will resonate with anyone who has experienced the power of travel, discovery, and reflection. I hope that through our journey, viewers will not only see the raw beauty of Leh Ladakh but also feel a deeper connection to their own stories of exploration and growth.
