RULES AND TERMS TO SUBMIT
Submission Deadline: August 21st, 2023
To qualify, the film must be made about and/or by Polynesians.
Films may be of any length, and of any genres, including features, documentaries, shorts, student films, series, and experimental films. We are particularly interested in presenting U.S. and World Premieres.
The Festival will consider works-in-progress, films with temporary soundtracks, digital outputs, and work that did not originate from film.
All films with dialogue in a language other than English must be subtitled in English for Festival presentation.
A filmmaker may submit more than one film in a category and more than one category at a time.
Entries must be submitted via password protected link. Passwords should be active for the duration of the submission process.
Press Kits are not required right away but are helpful and make things a lot easier later. If able, please include a digital press kit when you submit including a synopsis, running time, country of origin, director name, and still image from your film.
By submitting your film to the Hālāwai Film Festival 2023 (HFF-2023), you expressly acknowledge that you are the rightful authorized person to submit the films and agree that you shall be bound by the following Terms & Conditions:
Submission of a film to the HFF 2023 does not guarantee its selection as nomination/ official selection/ award. All the films submitted to HFF-2023 will be reviewed by our panel and the announcement of the nominees/ official selections will be intimated to the individual filmmakers by email as well listed on our website/ social media profiles.
When accepted HFF 2023 is hereby granted the right to utilize any marketing or media material submitted for promotional purposes of the festival. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements, rules, and regulations.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the HFF-2023, from and against all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred because of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, and publicity.
