Angela Athanasopoulos is a 2D animation filmmaker with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Animation from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University. She makes whimsical films in which she draws on her own personal experiences, feelings and anxieties, but adds touch of fantasy and surrealism.
A whimsical, fantastical take on a childhood memory, Hair-Raising is a children’s short film about self-acceptance and loving the traits that make you unique, with a specific focus on loving one’s natural hair texture. Hair-Raising is a love letter to my younger self and every other kid (and grown-up) learning to love their natural hair.
