After graduating from the MET film school in 2016 with a BA in Cinematography, I have been working as a freelance videographer/filmmaker based in the UK. I've worked on several corporate projects, music videos and documentaries, and have a keen interest in making projects that "make a difference". I have also worked for the BBC and helped several charities spread their message in a visual way.
When I first heard about the story of HYPO, it really struck a cord with me. I too had a dream of being a footballer when I was young so I could relate with the utter devastation of being told that that dream was over. I’ve always wanted to make a difference in this world. To tell stories that haven’t been told and to raise awareness about the struggles that people go through. HYPO will aim to raise awareness about type 1 diabetes but more specifically how type 1 is dealt with in the sporting industry. I want this film to reach every corner of the world because type 1 affects people in every corner of the world. I tried to draw the raw emotion out of Jon-sel (lead actor) to show just how painful the experience was for him. Hopefully by doing this, the audience will go away thinking differently about how they deal with a persons medical condition. This film isn’t just aimed at type 1 diabetics but also any body who has been told they can’t do something. My ultimate goal for this film is to change people’s perception of type 1 diabetes and for type 1 diabetics to start believing that they can achieve anything. The story of the film was based on events that happened to a Type 1 Diabetic in the Turkish Football First Division, and it shows how Diabetes can be seen so differently around the world.
