HIRAETH ( Longing to Return )

Following the lines of time-travel movies, prone sometimes to temporal mishaps and rupture of the time-space Continuum, 'HIRAETH' is a very effective attempt at exploring the relationship between time and space through the prism of human emotions,deep-rooted in the heart. A heartbroken old grandma disgusted with the disregard for traditional values of modern life, pines to meet her grandson whom she takes to be her loyal and only confidante, in order to revisit her childhood days, her motherland, her family and her favourite mango grove. Through a very subtle crossover, where she regains her youth in form and spirit, she enters her dreamland with her grandson who comes to meet her. She becomes extremely reflective, thoughtful and nostalgic (though it seems to be the rantings of old age ). She pleads to her grandson to leave her amidst the bounty of nature and go away. After several entreaties to the young grandma to return to real time, the grandson has to give in before the stubborn lady who refuses to go back. Finally he is left alone, crestfallen and sulky... haplessly stuck between two worlds and bewildered by the turn of events. Now that his grandma has eluded him, he is left with nothing...only the scent of yonder years lingers on. The transition of the old grandma to her younger version, her witty repartees, sometimes philosophical comments to persuade the grandson are magical enough to captivate hearts.
