Nwamaka Chikezie is an independent filmmaker based in Abuja, Nigeria.
Her most recent film as director is Help, for the African Union Human Rights Action Plan, as a writer, Chikezie’s credits include 16 episodes of Bino and Fino, a Pan-African animated series, Love’s Deceit, the Nigerian adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Othello. She has worked as editor on independent documentaries such as Displaced, a documentary about the effect of Covid19 on the Internally displaced persons in Nigeria.
As a freelancer, she works as an Assistant Director, Script supervisor and Continuity person for several film projects, Tv shows, Commercials and Documentaries.
Chikezie is also engaged with building communities through video partnerships, empowering new and aspiring filmmakers and creatives to tell their own stories. As the co-founder of Hive Film Collective and the creator of the Gorilla Filmmaker Project, Chikezie is committed to bold voices and innovative forms that build radical practices of ethical filmmaking focusing on Nigerian Independent filmmakers.
