Writer Statement

The main idea of this project is to represent a woman’s introspective path to deal with her pain. I have always been intrigued by how human beings show their sorrows and anguish in different ways; how their history and drama unfold in their lives. I am also interested in the different ways in which the cinematographic language can narrate stories visually. For this project, I intend to develop a narrative based on the character’s own perception, her subjectivity, and the internalization process of her reflections. Helenia is a 45-year-old woman. Unable to understand the reason for her nostalgia, she resorts to a renowned psychoanalyst and hypnotherapist. Under hypnosis, Helenia recalls images from her past, alongside other imaginary visions prompted by the method adopted by the doctor to help her achieve freedom and overcome her problem. The short film introduces us to Helenia’s inner world by presenting the character from an unusual perspective and with an interesting narrative tone.
