Director Statement

I made this film from footage Joel Labat and I shot personally and during the Gilets Jaunes movement in 2018 and 2019, with a group close to home. I therefore made this film after the fact, from these images that have meanwhile become archives. This hindsight seemed necessary to me to understand what had played out in the group we followed over those few months and to, through it, tell the story of this movement in all its complexity. I did this, of course, from a memorial perspective, but also to bring my own subjective viewpoint to bear on this popular revolt that was to leave a lasting mark on the history of France.
