HARRAG

Mohamed, a young Algerian in his thirties, tells his own story of illegal immigrants in France. He used to work in a baking ingredients factory in Algiers, he was engaged and planning his wedding. Overworked, he had to take a break. Then began his descent into hell: his boss fired him, his fiancée abandoned him, he had no connections nor support to find another job, in a country plagued by corruption. Without future, he had no choice but to leave.

Director Biography - Smail Beldjelalia

Smail Beldjelalia was born in 1984 in Algeria. He grew up in El M'hir then in Oran. After a Master in English, he turned to his passion: cinema. he learned on his own framing, video-editing, color grading, computer graphics and directing. He then studied at ESRA Paris (Ecole Supérieure de Réalisation Audiovisuelle) where he obtained the diploma of high cinematographic studies (Script writing and film directing) in 2018. He set up his audiovisual company RIWAYA Films in Paris in 2019 (www.riwayafilms.com).
He made his third documentary « HARRAG » in 2020. The previous one « Live (almost) like others » was officially selected at the festival Entr’2 marches – Cannes 2020.
