The story of "Legend of Gunung Tugel" comes from Boyolali district, Central Java. This story tells about Ki Singoprono and Ki Rogo Runting who have been friends since childhood. Ki Singoprono since childhood always trained good nature by his father is Ki Wongsoprono.
Ki Rogo Runting grows into a powerful person. His initial friendship with Ki Singoprono instantly turned into hatred when a sense of envy emerged in Ki Rogo Runting's mind. Ki Rogo Runting does not accept that Ki Singoprono is so respected, cherished, and loved by all people. Whereas Ki Rogo Runting felt himself more powerful than Ki Singoprono.
Because Ki Rogo Runting's heart was overrun by hatred, he finally sought ways to destroy Ki Singoprono. Ki rogo Runting destroys the mountain near Ki Singoprono's house with the destination area around the mountain also devastated including Ki Singoprono. When Ki Rogorunting shoot the mountain for the second time Ki Singoprono blocking the arrow with a powerful bolt, finally the mountain Madu where Ki Rogo Runting destroyed and then known as the Gunung tugel
