TERMS OF ENTRY
Guernsey International Film Festival is a competitive event open to fiction and nonfiction films of all genres, subjects and lengths. No premiere status required.
Films will be reviewed by a minimum of 3 members of our selection committee, made up of filmmakers and industry professionals.
Filmmakers whose films are selected will be notified by approximately September 30, 2020.
The filmmaker agrees to be responsible for all shipping costs. This includes any damage to or loss of the film print en route.
Submitted films must be in English or have English subtitles.
The filmmaker must have a high-resolution file of the film submitted by October 5, 2020, if accepted.
GIFF requires an online screener to be uploaded to Vimeo, Youtube, or the FilmFreeway video player.
No postal submissions accepted.
Films submitted after the final deadline may not be considered.
Submission fees are non-refundable.
By submitting a film the filmmaker understands that they agree to the following:
You are currently the copyright owner or control the copyright of the film submitted and are authorised to submit the film to GIFF. This includes music rights. Should ownership or rights change, this agreement will be upheld and not be infringed.
You acknowledge that the film submitted contains no material which could result in legal action. If a legal claim arises in connection with your film you will bear all legal costs and pay any award of damages which may ensue. You also agree to reimburse GIFF any legal fees incurred in connection with the defence of such a claim.
If your film is accepted for screening at GIFF you grant GIFF the right to screen the film in Guernsey during the Festival.
COVID-19 RESPONSE, UPDATE: If your film is accepted for screening at GIFF you grant GIFF the global right to screen the film online in the form of a password protected Live Stream during the Festival.
By participating in this Competition, entrants agree that during the Competition Period, GIFF and its sponsors and partners are authorized to display extracts of the films on the GIFF website and on any and all other media in connection with the Competition.
By participating in the Competition, entrants grant permission to GIFF to use their names, likenesses, photographs, voices, sounds and/or biographical information and films in connection with the Competition and for any and all advertising, publicity and promotional purposes relating to the Competition without compensation. This will extend to cover the period used to promote the next festival as well.
Entrants will be fully credited where possible, and retain sole ownership of their work.
You understand and agree that if your film is selected for the Festival, footage of the film, posters, stills, titles, and information from the film may be used for promotional purposes.
You understand that GIFF reserves the right to disqualify your film if it is submitted to the wrong competition category.
You understand that judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Showtime and venue scheduling is at the discretion of GIFF and is subject to change without notice.
Should Entrants be shortlisted they are responsible for any costs and related expenses to attend any relevant events or promotional activity including (without limitation) the Award winner announcement at the Award ceremony.
By submitting your film you are indicating that you understand, comply with and agree to these Terms of Entry and the eligibility requirements.
