Guardians of Time

The ancestral knowledge resides in the small moments, in the air, the trees, the hail, the rain, and the wind. For those who wish to listen, not for those seeking confirmation.

The elders, wise through the years, have guarded the memory of the land, interweaving their threads of knowledge into our history. One of the oldest oral traditions that inhabits this world, entangled with the Popocatépetl volcano and the community of Atlautla, is that of the so-called Temperos, also known as Graniceros, Tlaloques, or Guardians of Time. Every May 3rd, they perform a ceremony in Mitlanco, the resting place, to give thanks and ask for rain for the crops of the new season.
