Giovanna Urazán Garzón was born in Cali, Colombia, after getting her high school diploma and directing her first short film in Armenia, about her urge to escape, she then moved to Bogotá to study Communication and Audiovisual Production at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, and went on to work as an assistant producer and assistant director as well as script supervisor in series such as Scientist for a day (Buena Estrella Producciones 2016) and feature films: El Cartel de la Papa (Laberinto TV, 2015), she graduated from the masters in arts and creative writing from Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Giovanna is looking to tell her own stories now, writing and directing the female tales she needs to see out there.
Guapa is a film about mental health and love. It is about how we perceive our own lives and how sometimes we need to take hold of our own minds, to be able to see life for what it is and take control of it, so we are able to get what we really want out of it.
