Growl
Growl is from Taiwan’s first animated microfilm series combining music and popular science. It condenses scientific knowledge related to sound and music into a short ten-minute story. Use of a lucid and lively plot to guide the scientific principles coupled with an original music score help the audience experience the hidden romance of science.
Music is not just the art of sound in time; it can also unlock the mysteries of biological evolution!
The rock music of the 1950s and 1960s created a global frenzy, and the unique "growl" of heavy metal in the late 1960s and early 1970s brought a dark and wild vibe that challenged listeners' senses. This film is a detailed account of the "growl." From the principles of voice production of the true and false vocal folds(physics) and pitch clarity (psychology), to further analysis of the biomechanical mechanisms related to attack behavior (physiology), the film weaves together physics, psychology, and physiology in a "story of rage."
A-chen, the protagonist, is the bassist in a student band who falls in love with a sweet-looking girl who excels at the "death growl." In a bid to woo her, A-chen sets out to learn "growling," and inadvertently discovers the hidden story behind the girl’s growling talent.
