Ground(prolog)
Ground tackles the notion of taking steps and walking through transitions of time. These peculiar steps that are limping and lifting are shared with the audience as moments of a single walking experience. The accompanying speech evokes certain content, while Ground sees freedoms emerging from this walking experience with a unique rhythm. This video came up from the idea of walking together and supporting one another to walk meantime, it has autobiographic and metaphoric references. It seeks how and where we would perceive the point of beginning.

The works of Çınar Eslek are about the possibilities of the body, as a complex existence, to experience (and to be experienced), to think (and be thought), to position itself (and be positioned). The artist, mainly through autobiographical references, ponders on the forces of the body to exist and to be exposed to action while following the traces of bodily movement as a dependent component of space. She focuses on the issue of representation -with all the metaphorical meanings it includes- of the whole range of bodies, the transformation of beings, their borders and our ways of understanding them. While searching for strong attitudes of those non-unique and hybrid bodies who reject being controlled, who use art as an opportunity, who cannot stay put, who are not afraid of themselves, she discovers how they effect each other and how they tend to split.
Through her use of media such as canvas, photograph, video, three dimensional installation and, lately, fabric, she proposes uncanny image abstractions with a macro perspective. Her works which originate in her subjective universe to reach a wider range of problematics find poetic ways to refuse what is conventional.
Eslek, who is looking for ways to encounter, to cooperate and to “ferment”, brought together artists, directors, screenwriters and writers for the project “Aksayanlar” for the art magazine Art Unlimited. Additionally, she prepares the XXY article project together with Yekhan Pınarlıgil in which she focuses on stories about the body.
She was among the participants of the 17th Istanbul Biennial and took a place in Crip Magazine.
The artist who received her undergraduate degree in Painting in Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts, earned her Masters degree with the thesis entitled “Transformation of Bodily Pain as an Experience into a Work of Art” and won the “Borders and Orbits” award (2006, Siemens Art) as well as the 26th “Artists of Today” award (2008, Aksanat).
