Grounded

When Pastor Meagan Lambert and her missionary team embark on their five-day trip to Sudan to speak to local churches on the subject of mental health, the last thing on her mind was being caught in a literal war.
A mere 8 hours later, after landing in Khartoum, while ministering at church, the team of four find themselves forced to seek shelter in the home of generous local Christians with nothing but the clothes on their backs as Sudan engages in a civil war.
One day becomes two weeks of sheltering in place after their hotel is abandoned and the Khartoum airport is destroyed, grounding all flights and their way home. To make matters worse, rumors spread of English-speaking Christians being harbored nearby, putting Meagan, the team, and their hosts at great risk in the predominantly Muslim city. For Meagan, this proves to be mentally challenging - knowing her anti-anxiety medications back at the abandoned hotel are becoming more and more unattainable with the ever- increasing sound of artillery as rebel forces inch closer and closer.
Meanwhile, back at home, friends and family gather to help the team find a way out of the country by attempting to hire an extraction team. While the home base works to pay the extractors, Meagan and her team learn that a last-minute caravan near Khartoum is traveling to Port Sudan where the King of Saudi Arabia is providing passage across the Red Sea for refugees needing a way home. The team must now make a crucial decision: Do they shelter in place, wait for the extraction team, or take the caravan?
Based on a true story, GROUNDED is a miraculous account of survival and resilience as well as a story of one Christian missionary’s resolve to pursue mental and spiritual health in the face of fear and uncertainty.
