GRIM NORTH is a fully accessible, online-only screenwriting competition seeking out new talent and exciting scripts from new and experienced writers.
GRIM NORTH is open to writers with completed feature-length and short scripts in the following categories:
- HORROR
- THRILLER/ACTION
- DRAMA
- DARK COMEDY

We want your dark stories, your twisted monsters and your panic-inducing joyrides. We want stories about the underdog and the people we don't always get to see on screen.
We welcome screenplays written by absolutely anyone over the age of 18, anywhere in the world, and we especially welcome screenplays written by women, people from BAME backgrounds, those who identify as having a disability, those from the LGBTQ+ community, and older writers who maybe found this passion late in life.
Every entry is read by industry professionals, including award-winning screenwriters, directors, producers and production executives.
All Official Selections, Semi-Finalists, Finalists and Winners receive Grim North laurels and a Grim North certificate.
FIRST PRIZE in each category
- A script report from an industry-respected producer, screenwriter and/or director
- A dedicated space on the GRIM NORTH website
- A hard copy certificate posted to you, wherever you are in the world.
RUNNER UP in each category
- A script report from an industry professional

Additionally, the WINNER of the Womxn To The Front bonus category will get another prize (TBA but is be industry related).
