I am Shanira Kayla Az-Zahra, born in Bandung, October 23, 2006. I am currently a student of Prestasi Prima Vocational High School or SMK, majoring in Bradcasting & Film. As I wish, I really love the world of entertainment industry such as Modeling, Acting, Singing, Dancing and Film. Both in front of the screen and behind the screen.
Watching movies has been my hobby since I was a kid, and I never lost interest in it. Since then, my interest in the world of the film industry has emerged, including the world of acting. In 2014 I joined extracurricular theater, and managed to get the opportunity to perform as the main character as a cat named Angel.
A year on, I decided to quit acting to explore other arts. Until in 2022 I decided to enter a vocational school, because there was something interesting, namely the Broadcasting & Film major. At the beginning of the month, I was given the opportunity to take part in a big project of the Force, and was involved in the production of a short film entitled “Cat Calling” as the Lead Actor.
The movie “Cat Calling” managed to get many nominations as well as wins in 2023. Not only that, I continued to create many new works with my classmates, under Lumiere Pictures. A small Production House that we built together, and managed to create two short films that we have sold in our school event, “Saintek Fair” in 2023.
Making this movie was a very personal journey and changed many things for me. As a director, I wanted to explore the complexity of human emotions and relationships between characters through a unique narrative point of view. The project started as a very complex idea, research and brainstorming with the core crew, but over time, the movie evolved into a story that speaks to the universal truths and complexities of our shared humanity.
The visual style and storytelling approach in the film is carefully designed to evoke emotion and invite the audience to reflect, as well as reflect on themes such as the social issues of violence and sexual abuse in small settings. I worked with an incredible team, both actors and crew, whose talent and dedication brought this vision to life in ways that even I could not have imagined.
It is an honor to be able to share our film GRETASHA. I am so grateful to be a part of a space that celebrates diverse voices and stories, and I hope that this movie can spark new conversations and connections amongst the audience. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to present this work.
