Japan-born Hiro Kaburagi started his career in the industry by joining Nippon Animation studio. After working as episodic director, during the last decade, he has increasingly covered series directing roles, receiving appraisal for "Kimi ni Todoke" (2009-2011) and "My Little Monster" (2012), both based on romantic comedy comic books. In 2016 he changed register completely by helming the "91 Days" original series, a gritty Prohibition-era revenge story, which highlighted his multifaceted talent and mature directing skills. His latest directorial effort "Great Pretender", written by live-action scriptwriter Ryota Kosawa and slated for summer 2020 on Netflix, is set to catch the attention of audiences around the world.
