The Great Northern International Film Festival aims to bring together original storytellers and a Northern British Columbia audience for its inaugural annual program of films spanning multiple genres and lengths. GNIFF will screen more than 100 films during its 4 day run plus host a series of filmmaker workshops featuring industry professionals from across North America.

The festival will also feature a red carpet gala evening on Saturday, September 12 which will issue 25 awards (including cash prizes and statuettes) to category winners during a formal event celebrating excellence in filmmaking.

The Great Northern International Film Festival is brought to you by the creators of Northern FanCon - an entertainment expo that has hosted dozens of actors and filmmakers through the years including William Shatner, Denise Crosby, Tricia Helfer. Kevin Smith, Amy Acker, Sean Astin, Edward James Olmos, Rachel Talalay, Marc Bernardin, Nicole Baer, Michael Uslan, and Matthew Wood to name only a few. The same spirit of success that has fuelled Northern FanCon for years is being imbued into GNIFF and we can't wait to welcome attending filmmakers and audiences to our city to enjoy time in our Northern limelight.

We look forward to illuminating the work of storytellers and building relationships with alumni that will continue for years to come!
