Grayson Kamuela “GK” Kostron is a Native Hawaiian filmmaker and writer from Kalihi, Honolulu, with the goal of bringing “Hawaiʻi to Hollywood.” Grayson is a graduate of President Theodore Roosevelt High School. He previously danced for six years under the hula hālau “Kekaiulu Hula Studio” and is currently pursuing an associate's degree in liberal arts at Kapiʻolani Community College, with plans to transfer to the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa to fully pursue a degree in Cinematic Arts.
His debut short film, Kekaiulu Hula Studio, was an Official Pick in the Hawaii International Film Festival's 2022 Student Showcase, and his follow-up short film, Joseph's Clarity, was selected as an Official Pick for Lift-Off Global Network's 2024 First-Time Filmmakers Showcase. His “Directed By GK.” YouTube channel also features more works about 'GK' and showcases his character beyond his short films.
He has previously worked for companies such as Consolidated Theatres, Straub Medical Center, HIFF's Student Committee, and Liliʻuokalani Trust. Grayson has contributed to various film productions in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, including projects led by Ciara Lacy, Ty Sanga, and himself. He continues to write and create narrative films with the hope of bringing change to Hawaiʻi and sharing his story.
