Experiencing Interruptions?

Goodbye my Mate

Goodbye my mate was in the subject bar of the email that my lifelong friend sent to me as a suicide note.
Asking that I not be angry or sad, he sought that I help him by also asking that I complete a final list of requests.
He thanked me for the gift of our decades-long friendship.
Not being angry or sad was impossible.
Devastation and despair overwhelmed me.
No longer would Polly and I discuss art, music, life.
As a way of coping with my grief, I took my rake down to the beach and made my marks. Thinking of Polly, his music, and our times spent with our feet in the sand.
My filmmaker son recorded this process and we have included some of my friend's original guitar compositions.
Goodbye my mate.
Although you have been washed away by the tide, I still carry the marks you have left on me.
Thank you for the gift that was you.
