Gracie, a director and writer, possesses a heartfelt affinity for both comedy and horror genres. Her journey began as a comedian, honing her craft at renowned institutions like Second City Chicago and UCB. During this time, she developed a keen understanding of the intriguing overlap and blurred lines between comedy and horror, which would become a pivotal influence on her writing.
Transitioning into a blossoming career in both live-action and animation, Gracie's storytelling thrived as she translated her whimsical tales into vibrant and distinct colors. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Gracie holds a deep-seated passion for delving into the intricacies of the human mind. This fascination informs her work, allowing her to infuse rich color and nuanced tone into her unique perspective on the world.
The genesis of "Good Day" draws inspiration from an emotional terrain I don’t see often explored in cinema. While creatives often delve into the depths of depression, I wanted to shine light on an anxiety I found in my life after graciously finding my own happiness. A gnawing fear that depression could come back at any moment. My aim was to create a surreal and comedic exposure to the dread that lurks in our minds when things are going… a bit too well. Our cast and crew was nothing short of exceptional in bringing this manic and silly piece of work to life, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
