When reckless teenager Joshua Nunez botches an ill-advised heist at a Tim Hortons, his older brother Alex is given the impossible task of keeping him on the straight and narrow while he awaits his criminal trial.

Writer Biography - Alex Nunez

Alexander Nunez is an actor and writer of Jamaican & Chilean descent. He is most well known for his performances in programs like Kim’s Convenience (CBC), A Teacher (FX), and Moonshine (CBC). On Moonshine, Alexander both stars as Sammy Finley-Cullen, and works as a writer on the show’s third season. Alexander’s other writing credits include two consecutive seasons of This Hour has 22 Minutes (CBC), and the second season of the multi-award winning series, Avocado Toast The Series (OutTV). For his work on “This Hour”, Alexander was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for writing on a sketch comedy/variety series. Alexander’s short, titled Diversity Hire (2019), released on October 20th at the 2019 Reelworld Film Festival and has since garnered success at several festivals, including 2020’s Just For Laughs Festival. Alexander currently has is own original series, titled Well Versed, under development in partnership with Border2Border Entertainment with support from the Independent Production Fund, and the Canadian Media Fund. Although the deeply personal subject material of this feature is not overarchingly queer, there will always been central queer characters in my work as film/tv continues to normalize the normal. We will have a large focus on a queer filmmaking team.
