Going Beyond Tradition
Going Beyond Tradition is a nostalgic appeal to facilitate in the young minds the basic fervour associated with celebrations and festivities. Every person of a village being adept at playing one instrument or the other, or sing and dance confidently has become a thing of the past. It focuses to re-instil and train young women and men to participate in the culture and folklore, be it playing instruments, singing, music in general and the associated revelry. A noteworthy contribution of this is the encouragement of women to participate and learn playing an instrument or sing may be, previously restricted under the veneer of cultural prejudices.

Since 2005, Dinanath Doimary has been working with the organisation The Ant in Chirang district of Assam. In 2017, Dinanath joined the Green Hub fellowship program and made 2 major films, both depicting his community in Chirang.
Going Beyond Tradition is a short film on Sifung Harimu Aafad - a youth group in Chirang District of lower Assam which is trying to revive traditional Bodo music and dance. Through this film I intended to aware the youth the importance of our lost traditions and how one group is already trying to revive it. I must also mention that the message I wanted to deliver has successfully reached the youth of my area and more and more young men and women are showing interest in learning our form of music.
