I grew up in Lancaster, PA and really did not start showing major interest in any creative studies until a year into college. After taking some general education classes and reflecting, I realized there was more too my casual interest in animation. From a small child, I was fascinated with it. I just never thought it could be a career. I enrolled at the Art Institute of Philadelphia to pursue this growing interest. Upon graduating, I found a job at Lockheed Martin as a graphic artist/ 3d generalist and have been there ever since 2015.
After initially becoming inspired by the legendary animator Hayao Miyazaki, I have found the art of motion a joy to watch, study and create. Anime in particular has had a great influence on how I approach animation. Everyday I am able to take part in or watch this incredible medium is a blessing.
The creation of my first animated short film (Going) was a challenge set forth by myself. Could I do it? Do I have what it takes? I won't fully know the answer until it is judged by others. The spark that ignited my drive to see this become a film was an actual experience I had watching a rocket climb into the sky from my 16th floor Philadelphia apartment. It all happened by chance that I even knew to look out my window at the right time. Watching it climb high into the sky by myself was a special experience. I am content knowing that Going is complete and has properly adapted that initial experience. Now I just want people to watch it.
I am just a guy with a story to tell.
I chose animation for "Going" because it has always has felt special to me.
My hope is to inspire more storytellers to share their stories and overcome the challenges they will face.
