Glorious Mrs. Kim
“Glorious Mrs. Kim” is an exploration by director Monica Cho of the gap between immigrants who leave their identities behind to adapt to a foreign country, versus their children, who as second generations, freely pursue what they want. It raises questions about whether the Internet’s community-building nature can be relevant for older immigrants and LGBTQ acceptance.

Monica Cho is a Korean-American director, producer, actor, and casting director based in LA. After earning her BFA in painting/sculpture from Cornell University, she transitioned into acting then directing as she fell in love with storytelling. A common thread in her narrative work is Asian female leads and she is working on starting a non-profit advocating Asian female creatives. She also works regularly on commercials and music videos.
I love exploring Asian American female stories, especially pertaining to the gaps in culture between immigrants, second generations, and the rest of society. I also love magical realism and having hints of dream-like moments and visuals. I hope to be part of a movement that brings untold diverse stories to life and help inspire others. I am also an advocate of the LGBTQ community and hope to help share more of their stories.
