Giovanni's Island

On August 15th, they told us we had lost the war.
At that time, we did not really understand.
Then one day, everything changed.
Many soldiers, wearing uniforms we had never seen before, arrived on the island.
That was the day I met Tanya.
1945. Junpei and Kanta are two brothers who live on a tiny island off the northernmost shores of Japan. As the country surrenders on August 15, the island is occupied by the Soviet Union. For the Japanese community, a new life with their Russian-speaking neighbors begins. Based on true events.
