Ginger Smith & Billy Gee
Ginger Smith & Billy Gee, all shot in green screen, turns its focus cinematically on the relationship developing between Ginger, a painter, and Billy, an aspiring writer, after Ginger is dumped by Billy’s best friend. With interspersed dreams of the main character Ginger, The Narrator guides the story; Hiker 1 and Hiker 2 are like figures in a Greek Chorus commenting on the action and entering and leaving the story line, and Male and Female add a Freudian coda to the proceedings. All the settings are derived from paintings by the author..

My new short film "Ginger Smith and Billy Gee" was all shot in green screen with a terrific and generous ensemble cast. My idea for this came from my graphic novel of the same name and I aspired to make narration, metaphor and experimental performance live in a graphic setting. I saw the Narrator as a character who directs the story from outside the cinematic flow.
